India, South Korea ink MoU on Tourism

Ministry of Tourism has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Republic of Korea for strengthening cooperation in the field of tourism. The agreement was signed by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Tourism K J Alphons and Do Jong-hwan the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sports, Republic of Korea in New Delhi.

Korea Republic ranks as one of the leading tourist generating market for India from east Asia.

The pact also aims to bring about more cooperation between the stakeholders including hoteliers and tour operators of the two countries.

Other plans include cooperation in the areas of promotion, marketing destination development, management besides encouraging participation in travel fairs/exhibitions in each other’s country.

Speaking to the media after signing of the MOU Col. Rajyavardhan Rathore Minister of State(Independent Charge) Youth Affairs and Sports said that the MOU would enhance cooperation between the two countries not only in tourism but also sports. Col Rathore felt that the best practices in management of sports infrastructure followed by Korea should be studied for improvement of India’s system.
