Delhi Monuments to be Lit-up

Qutub Minar at night

Soon visitors would be able to admire the Qutub Minar complex and Safdarjung complex in the backdrop of the night sky.  The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) plans to illuminate them at night for promoting night tourism.

While Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have done a good job of illuminating their forts and other monuments at night most of Delhi’s monuments have not yet been illuminated.

After lighting up the Purana Qila and Red Fort work on the Safdarjung Tomb and Qutub Minar complex is in progress.  As of now Qutub Minar is partially lit up but soon LED lights would be lighting up all the monuments inside the complex especially highlighting the calligraphy.  2018 saw the Purana Qila Lake being restored and the monument being lit up.

Illumination of the Purana Qila and Red Fort has seen an enthusiastic response from the tourists and demands for illuminating more monuments.
