Bangladesh and Maldives support India on Scrapping Article 370

A Bangladesh minister has described the revocation of Art 370 (which applied to the state of Jammu and Kashmir) as an internal matter of India and that they have no right to say anything about domestic affairs of other countries.

Speaking at a function in Dhaka, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Qader who is also the General Secretary of the ruling Awami League clarified that Bangladesh does not make judgments on a neighbor’s internal issues.

These are the first official comments from the government of Bangladesh after Art. 370 was revoked by India.

The Maldives also termed India’s decision to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution as a domestic matter of New Delhi.  In a statement, the Government of Maldives stated that it believes that it is the right of every sovereign nation to amend its laws.

As expected China and its ally Pakistan have expressed their dissatisfaction over the scrapping of the controversial article and would be attempting to diplomatically isolate India on the issue besides trying to pressurize India through other means besides attempting to internationalise the issue.
