India's First CSR conclave Held at Manipur

India’s first-ever Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conclave was held in Imphal on September 6.

Dignitaries who participated at the conclave included Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh chief secretary of Manipur Dr J Suresh Babu and CSR expert Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee

CM Singh invited corporates from India and abroad to partner the State in various ventures.

He assured business and investors that the law and order situation of Manipur has improved significantly.

He informed that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) would extend CSR funds for the new Accident and Trauma Centre at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) whereas the Indian Oil Corporation Limited would fund the construction of community bathrooms.

Singh elaborated that the state government has identified healthcare, social development, education, skill development, and human development as priority areas for CSR funding.

Highlighting the high growth potential of Manipur the BJP leader said that state is endowed with resources like aromatic plants, spices, medicinal plants and horticultural products hence could register high growth in areas such as floriculture, medical tourism, organic farming, handloom, bamboo craft and pottery.

The conclave included discussions on CSR partnership between corporate bodies and
government departments, technical sessions comprising business-to-government meetings and presentations from corporate houses and government departments.
The conclave saw participation from 40 corporates, including an American group.
