92.5% of J&K area free of restrictions

Approximately 92.5% of geographical area of Jammu & Kashmir is free of restrictions and the situation is normalizing steadily said National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. Doval reaffirmed the government’s commitment to prevent loss of lives in Kashmir and said that if putting restrictions is essential for preventing loss of lives then government would not hesitate to impose them.

He labeled the detention of local politicians of the valley as a preventive measure required for maintenance of law and order, he termed these detentions as legal and something which could be questioned in a court of law. Doval felt that the valley has largely remained event less and expressed his desire to see all restrictions being removed. He clarified that roll back of restrictions was dependent on Pakistan’s behavior if the country which is at risk of being blacklisted by Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for funding terror decides to roll back support of terrorist activities restrictions would be lifted sooner rather than later
