Pahalgam- Not Here to Interfere in Internal matters of India: EU Lawmakers

Delegation of European Union MPs who are on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir have affirmed that they are not here to interfere in India’s internal matters and that they fully supported India “in its efforts for lasting peace and end of terror”.

This is the first time an international delegation has been allowed in Jammu and Kashmir since August 5 when the central government scrapped the Article 370 which gave special status to the state. Visit of the EU delegation has been heavily criticised by opposition leaders in India who questioned why foreigners have been allowed into J&K when Indian politicians have been kept out.

In an interaction with the press French MP Henri Malosse stated that abrogation of the Article 370 is India’s internal matter and explained that his main concern is terror which is a global menace and that his country stands with India in the fight against terror. Yesterday 5 workers from West Bengal were killed by terrorists in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The 27 member team also interacted with some of the newly-elected councillors and panchayat members.
