The International Hockey Federation(IHF) has chosen India as the host of men’s Hockey World Cup for 2023, the decision to this effect was taken at Lausanne in Switzerland today. The tournament which would be played from January 13 to January 29, 2023. The world hockey governing body decided to award the women’s World cup for 2022 to Netherlands and Spain who would jointly host the tournament. The women’s World Cup would be held from July 1 to July 22 in 2022. The venues for both the tournaments are to be announced at a later date, after getting the rights to host the world cup in 2023 India would become the first nation to host the tournament 4 times. India has hosted the tournament on three occasions 1982 (Bombay), 2010 (New Delhi) and 2018 (Bhubaneswar) India was able to a edge out Belgium and Malaysia to be chosen as the host for the next world cup in 2022.
