The Supreme Court has asked central government to present the letter by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari inviting BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis to form the government in Maharashtra, it has also asked for the letter written by Devendra Fadnavis in which he had claimed to have the support of majority MLA’s to push his case for being made the Chief Minister. The Solicitor General Tushar Mehta needs to present these two letters to the Supreme Court when it hears the petition presented jointly by the Nationalist Congress Party( NCP), the Indian National Congress and the Shivs Sena which seeks a floor test in the Maharashtra state assembly. Senior lawyer Kapil Sibal appearing for the Shiv Sena and senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi appearing for the the Nationalist Congress Party and Indian National Congress have appealed to the Supreme Court to order a floor test in Maharashtra state assembly within 24 hours. Meanwhile senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi appearing for the BJP and its allies have asked for two- three days from the apex court for placing all the relevant papers before it. Maharashtra state assembly has a total of 288 seats and Shiv Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray has claimed that the newly formed ‘ Mahavikas Agadi’ camp comprising of Indian National Congress, Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party along with independent MLA’s have total support of 144 MLA’s which is the half way mark in the house.
