NDFB Ban extended by 5 years

National Democratic Front Of Bodoland (NDFB) Ban extended by 5 years

The Union Home Ministry has extended by 5 years the ban on the National Democratic Front Of Bodoland (NDFB) under the Section 3 of the Unlawful Activities(Prevention) act 1967. The Home Ministry in its notification said that the group is engaged in violent and illegal activities aimed at undermining the territorial integrity of the country with the intention of creating a separate Bodoland. The Union Home Ministry observed that the group has been undermining the authority of the government, spreading terror among the populace especially being involved in killing and destruction of property of non Bodo people in the Bodo dominated areas of Assom. It explained that if not for a ban the group it would rearm, regroup and make fresh recruitments hence it needs to be banned immediately.
