Unlucky Ghana goes down 3-2 to Portugal

It was a tale of two halfs as Portugal overcame Ghana 3-2 in an exiting group H encounter. While the first half  was goalless and uneventful the second half saw end to end action and 5 goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo converted a penalty in the 64th minute to give Portugal the lead. Ronaldo went down in the penalty box though the defender clearly  made a clean challenge. By scoring this goal Ronaldo becomes the first player to score at 5 World Cups.

Andre Ayew scored the equalizer by hitting Portugal on the brake and exploiting the lack of  co ordination in the Portuguese defense. Joa Felix scored for Portugal in the 78th minute to restore it’s lead.

It appeared to be game over when Rafael scored three minutes after coming on as a substitute, however an unmarked Bashir scored Ghana’s second goal in the 88th minute to raise his teams hopes.

Portugal may have secured the victory however both the Ghanian  goals exposed the lack of co ordination in Portuguese defence, particularly it’s aerial weakness.
