Delhi’s COVID tally jumps past 62 k with 2909 fresh infections

National capital has recorded 2909 fresh Covid infections during the past 24 hours taking its tally past 62 k.

According to the state health bulletin, Delhi now has 62655 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, while the city’s fatalities have now increased to 2233, after 58 more lives were lost to the pandemic since Sunday.

Delhi is now at the second spot in the country in terms of number of cases, leaving behind Tamil Nadu.

On the brighter side, the number of recoveries today were more than fresh cases. There were 3589 recoveries, while fresh cases were 2909, as per the health bulletin, while so far, 36602 patients have been cured and discharged. Active cases in the city at present stand at 23820, the bulletin read.

So far, 384696 cumulative tests have been done till date here. Patients under home isolation are 12922, the Delhi government said. The number of containment zones in the city are 262 at present, it added.
