Seperatist Sikhs, mainly settled in Canada have started telephonic and digital campaigns under their ‘Referendum 2020’ campaign to reignite the flames of separatism among Sikh population in India.

As per these activities pre recorded telephonic calls propagating secessionist ideology and highlighting the alleged discrimination and ill treatment of Sikhs in India are being made, especially on land line connections. Pakistan’s Inter Services Intelligence(ISI) has been actively trying to revive separatism in Punjab, and Pakistani propaganda is clearly evident in the recorded telephone calls. Apart from the 1984 anti Sikh riots the telephonic messages also talk in detail about the 2002 Gujarat riots and what they call the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Khalistani extremists have also launched a web portal named ‘dillibanegakhalistan.ca’ to peddle their theories to the general public, though the home ministry has taken steps to make this web site inaccessible in India.
